The MN54LM is a module based on the nRF54LM20A System-on-Chip (SoC). The nRF54LM20A is the highest memory option in the nRF54L Series, designed to meet the demanding requirements for memory, interfaces, and performance in high-end wireless applications. The nRF54LM20A integrates a 128 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M33 processor, offering double the processing power and three times the processing efficiency of the nRF52 Series. It features a built-in RISC-V co-processor to handle real-time or low-level custom protocols, offloading work from the main processor. It is equipped with 2 MB Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) and 512 KB RAM, making it the largest memory option in the nRF54L Series, sufficient to run complex applications and multiple wireless protocol stacks simultaneously (such as a Matter implementation) without the need for external memory. For radio and protocols, it utilizes Nordic's fourth-generation ultra-low-power 2.4 GHz multiprotocol radio. It supports Bluetooth LE (including Channel Sounding introduced in Bluetooth 6.0), Thread, Matter, Zigbee, and proprietary 2.4 GHz protocols with data rates up to 4 Mbps. The new hardware architecture is built on TSMC's 22ULL® (22nm) process technology, achieving significant breakthroughs in power consumption and efficiency. Security features include best-in-class security capabilities, such as secure boot, secure firmware update, secure storage, a cryptographic accelerator with side-channel leakage protection, and tamper detectors. It is designed for PSA Level 3 certification (the highest level of the Platform Security Architecture (PSA) certified IoT security standard). Peripherals and interfaces include support for High-Speed USB for fast data transfer (e.g., firmware updates, gaming peripherals). It features a new Global Real-Time Clock (Global RTC) peripheral that can wake the SoC from its deepest sleep mode without an external RTC, significantly reducing power consumption in long-sleep applications and potentially extending the battery life of some products to several years.
